SPORTSMAN of the YEARNew England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has been selected as Sports Illustrated 2005 Sportsman of the Year. Brady is known as the ultimate teammate. The Super Bowl rings are nice, but his greatest achievement grows out of a generosity of spirit that makes him a leader in the toughest times. Who else do you think deserves this award?

I agree that he deserved the award he is an amazing team player with amazing sportsman ship. although he isn't getting a super bowl ring, he is still a great player.

Tom Brady deserves that award he is a great player and gives as much as he can on and of of the feild
I dont think that Tom Brady deserves this award because there are better players that desreve it more like Mcnab because he had to put up with his team pretty much falling apart.
I don't think Tom Brady should have won the sportsman of the year award. There were many players that had a better year then him. Right now the Patriots are doing bad and the only reason they are leading the division is because the rest of those teams in the division are horrible. He is a great player, don't get me wrong but I think people like tim duncan, or lance armstrong should have won that award.

I dont think that Tom Brady should get the best player of the year award. I think that T.O should. I feel that quaterbacks shouldn't get the awards. I feel that WR, or RB, or TE, etc. should get the award. I know that quaterbacks are the ones that throw the ball and make the plays, but quaterbacks always get it. They should let other people get it. Plus, Tom Brady sucks this year, hes just lucky that he has no competition in his league. For example the JETS=horrible.

i think tom brady shouldent have won the sportsman of the year award. i think he is a great team player but this year he has not shown much to win the award. insted of tom brady i think that peyton manning should have won it. his performance this year has shown what his team thinks of him everyone follows him and they could make history this year. tom brady is a great team player but i think peyton should have won this for what he has done this year.

I think a better person for sportsman of the year is Charlie Weis because he coached a losing Notre Dame team to a major BCS bowl game, and to increase his public image, he showed his love for kids diagnosed with cancer by going to a hospital and performing one of the plays, the little kids asked him to do. He is truly a loving and inspiring coach.

Tom Brady is a great QB, and teammate, but he hasn't done anything that merits him sportsman of the year, this award should go to someone like reggie bush, who not only had a monumental year, won the heisman, and is perhaps the most talked about athlete of this season, his presence is affecting the NFL much more than tom brady's is, it isn't even the playoffs and some teams are already dreaming of the draft purely because he MAY be in it, first round draft pick for sure. the patriots aren't making headlines like they did last year, neither should Tom Brady

I do not think that Tom Brady is the sportsman of the year. If Tom Brady was having a record year, he would deffinatly be the winner. I think someone like Reggie Bush who is lights out in college and will most likely be one of the best running backs ever. Also someone like A-Rod would be a better canidate then Tom. I think that the only reasonhe got picked is because he is one of the most well none athletes. Personally i think it was a personality contest. Thats all i have to say about that.

Tom Brady deserves that award he plays great and is great at the game
I feel that the true sportsman of the year should've been Tim Duncan. He is constantly over looked for many different awards and honors. Tim has a calm and very quiet personality, which allows for many people to not be aware of his talent and leadership. His nickname, "The big fundamental" completely describes how great of a player he is. Tim is not concerned with the publicity that he gets or with how many highlights hes on. All that Tim cares about is the success of his team and ever since hes been in the league. His career has been highly successful and he constantly puts up exceptional numbers.
I believe that Tom Brady deserved the award because he played really hard even though the Patriots were not doing so well in the beggining of the season. He also has the most passing yards in the NFL, more than Peyton Manning and Carson Palmer.

I belive that Tom Brady does not deserve the award this year. I belive last year would have been a better year for him to win the award. i think this year Manning should have won the award casue he always helpin out on the sideline and on the feild hes a great player and a great team mate.

I agree that he is great player, and I think he is a great sportsman. He rarely argues with other players, and he doesnt talk smack like alot of other players do. He plays the game, and does it well. So I feel he does deserve the sportsman award

I don't think Tom Brady deserves the award. Who I think deserves the award is Ledainian Tomlinson because he has been very consistent through out the season. He doesn't seem to be a cocky, self absorbed player such as Terell Owens and he puts up just as many points.

I believe that Tom Brady is still one of the top QB's in the NFL, but the award is for THIS year, not past.
Reggie Bush from the University of South Carolina Titans deserves the award. He has recently been annoinced the Heisman award. He has proved outstanding numbers and will most likely be the first round draft pick in the NFL. I'm not so sure about his teamwork and attitude but the way he can run the ball is supernatural.

I think Lance Armstrong diserves the award for sportsman of the year. He deserves this award because he is the most dedicated man i have ever seen. He has had an amazing comeback from cancer to win his sixth straight tour de france. This year was probably the best year for him to win the award because he broke the previous tour de france record of victories by a single person. In my eyes, winning six straight tour de frances is alot harder than winning 3 super bowls.

I don't agree Brady deserved this award. I believe Joe Torre manager of the New York Yankees deserves this award. Joe had just been through his hardest season as manager of the Yankees. He kept a cool head, while overcoming the vicious verbal assaults of George Steinbrenner. And brought the Yankees back to life, winning a playoff spot in the last series of the season against the hated Boston Redsox. Joe Torre continues to make progess in his Safe at Home Foundation. Abuse is a world wide epidemic, and Mr. Torre is brave enough to fight it. Joe Torre, the True Sportsman of the Year.
