Monday January 29th is the first day of the 2nd semester.
The Oh Reilly Factor
Rick Reilly, columnist extraordinaire for Sports Illustrated has been spewing his thoughts of and surrounding sports for years. His commentaries are informative, insightful, and sometimes hysterical (see here and here).

Reilly's style is usually humorous, poking fun at the absurdities of athletes, coaches, and almost anyone involved in sports at any level. Reilly does have a serious side, and has written on many subjects, from "small town" heroes to his own personal life.

Your task is to examine the archives and devise a reaction summary to three of your favorite columns throughout the years. Let me know if you stumble upon a really good one so we can share it with the rest of the class.
Empathy
Becoming a successful leader requires the addition of many soft skills. In management, none may be more important for our new age then having empathy; understanding people. Here is an interesting test of our ability to read other people's faces/emotions. Good luck beginning your empathy testing regimen.
Apple Reinvents the Phone
Whether you are pro-mac, anti-mac, or anywhere in between you must admit the new Apple iPhone is a technological breakthrough. Please visit the WSJ Classroom Edition blog (here) and read the post regarding the iPhone. Write your answers in a MS Word document and submit at the end of class.

Wild Card Weekend
Our beloved Jets and Giants have daunting tasks in front of them this Sunday, but it will prove to be must-see tv. My projections: Jets 23 Pats 20. Giants 20 Eagles 17. I'm sure that prediction will be way off, but let's start the weekend off by marinating in a little NFL playoff quiz. Click here to begin.
