Its The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown

How can we use our marketing acumen to take this classic film and turn it into something remarkable? What worldview does this clip appeal to? And more importantly, from a marketing standpoint how can we frame it to sell products or services? Maybe some digitally inserted goods (product placement). Put your Seth Godin nose on and create something worth telling a story about.

Marketing Management Gladwell Style
Plain, spicy, extra chunky, how do you prefer your tomato sauce? People don't know what they want; they can't always explain what they want. For example, if you ask most Americans how they like their coffee, they will tell you they like a dark, rich, hearty roast. In actuality they like their coffee milky and weak. Malcolm Gladwell does a terrific job of illustrating the work of Dr. Howard Moscowitz wherein he defines horizontal segmentation. Howard's experiments have proven that their are no hieracrchies in consumer behavior. No good or bad, just different that suit different people. Gladwell uses the phrase democratized taste to describe Howard's findings. So there is no one way; Howard attemps to disprove universals, rules that govern the way businesses view consumers. In this quest we must have an understating of variability. Americans no longer want to know more about say cancer, but how is your cancer different than my cancer. By understanding variability and embracing diversity we can surely find delirious happiness, according to Gladwell.

Dennis Green Tirade

Is this the way a composed manager should handle the media?
Can Jay-Z make HP notebooks seem cool?
The Spot: A man in an elegant pinstriped suit is filmed from the shoulders down. As he describes his various hobbies and entrepreneurial projects, he makes hand gestures illustrating each one. For instance: "Love playing chess online," he says, opening his hands as though opening a chessboard. And voilĂ : A computer graphic of a chessboard appears in midair. The man moves a virtual rook, and then the chessboard evaporates. Or: "New Frank Gehry plans for my team in Brooklyn," he says, rolling out an imaginary blueprint that pops to life as a basketball arena. "My passport says Shawn," he tells us—poof, a digital passport appears in his hand—"but you may know me by another name." Some text reads: "Jay-Z: CEO of Hip-Hop." As the spot ends, the announcer says, "HP Pavilion Entertainment notebooks … The computer is personal again." (Click here to view the ad.)
Corporate Sponsorship?
The Chicago Whitesox have just announced that for the next three seasons, their evening home games will begin at 7:11 p.m. instead of the customary 7:05 p.m. or 7:35 p.m. Why? Because 7-Eleven, the convenience store chain, is paying them $500,000 to do so.
